Eddie-
I liked his use of a prezi. It went fast at times, but it wasnt overwhelming. For his experiment, he unplugged his tv so he wouldnt watch it. I enjoyed that topic for an experiment because I can relate. I watch a lot of tv. His onformation about how not watching tv can help your physical and mental health really persuaded me to try to not watch tv as much.
Damon-
His presentation on expressing the importance of music in people's lives was interesting. I enjoyed his personal examples he used. The videos about the two people who are/were on the tv shows were interesting. Chris Rene got off of drugs to start music and has been clean for eight months. Jamar Rogers quit meth six years ago, is HIV+ not expected to live passed thirty, but just had his 30th birthday. These two stories evoke an emotional appeal which I think added a lot to Damon's presentation.

Presentations.
Jeff- "It's not your fault"
I enjoyed jeff's presentation about depression. I felt he gave good information about depression (like signs, symptoms, etc.). I also felt that his personal stories were very intersting, yet sad. I feel they added credibility and effect to his presentation. I always enjoyed his words of encouragement like "it's not your fault" and "bullies are cowards". I feel he cam eoff as very knowledgable about his topic because he has experienced depression first hand.

Chris- "Exercise your brain."
I enjoyed Chris's presentation about the importance of mental stimulation and preventing memory loss. His experiment was doing crossowrds puzzles everyday; this helped to expand his vocab and help exercise his memory capacity. Throughout his speech he uses expert quotations and i thought that those added credibility and clarity. He used a statistic that Alzheimer's dsease is predicted to double by 2050. A statistic that I didn't know that I thought was interesting and surprising was that chronic stress is capable of killing brain cells by the millions. I found this very surprising because every person has stress in their life everyday. Overall his presentation was organized and interesting.

Luke-
Luke did his presentation on lucid dreaming. I liked his use of tumblr as his multimodal. In his presentation a quote that he made that i found very interesting was "I wanted to control a part of my life that I didn't control before." I had never really thought about dreaming the way that he explained today. He explained that about half of our lives are spent sleeping, so why not enjoy and take control of that time by lucid dreaming. It is unconscious and everyone can, and may even have experience lucid dreaming before. I, overall, just thought his presentation was very interesting.

Multimodal
For my multimodal project, i am thinking about doing a photo essay type of powerpoint. i think it will be a good emotional appeal for my topic and argument. it will touch on a serious topic, and i think it will really reach out to people to show pictures and maybe even brief stories of people who have eating disorders.

What is text?
text is written words that express one's thoughts, feelings, and idea. text can be in a book, newspaper, magazine, journal, etc. text has also expanded over the years to technological communication, also. there are online articles, social networking sites, emails, as well as text messaging. i believe these are all "text" because its explressing your thoughts and ideas through words, no matter where they are written.

Aristotle, continuing experiment
As I went home from break, I left with the intensions of continuing on with my experiment of living a healthy lifestyle. But it didnt work out how I had hoped. When I was home I visited family and friends, and I also really need to relax and eat the food I wanted.
But now that I am back here, I have started back up again and have been working out and eating good. Except today i didnt work out because i hurt my hip yesterday, and i felt it necessary to give my hip a small break. I fully intend on continuing my experiment and i have noticed some progress with it.
My experiment has helped my research. It gives me incite on body image, and also how excercising and eating well is a good alternative to eating disorders.

The Last Week
The last week of the 30 day challenge was by far the hardest. Working out and eating healthy were not the hard part, it was finding time to work out. I had three tests and four papers due this past week, so it was rather hard to find the time to do it. But with the little time i had, i found little workouts to do in my room that would only take 15 to 20 minutes.
This experiment, overall, was sucessful. I did what i set out to do and i worked out everyday. i plan on trying my hardest to continue with this routine of wokring out and eating healthy. I hope to get in better shape a healthy way, and hopefully reduce my chances of getting diabetes and other health issues in the future.

WasteLand
When we first started watching the movie, we found out Vik was an artist who used garbage and other odds and ends to make his art. When I first heard that he was going to a landfill, I thought he would just kind of wander around collecting to garbage to use for his art. I didn't know he would be interacting and trying to understand the "pickers".
When they first got to the landfill, the "pickers" seemed distant and so was the crew, which is to be expected with both groups of people experiecning something new. As time went on, Vik and the crew really got the pickers to open up, and they were able to interact with them in a way that they hadn't been able to from the start. The message about "getting to know people who you normally wouldn't" really shines through out the movie. Vik and the crew really work to interact, communicate, and be friendly to the "pickers".
This argument can be universal. Getting to know people you normally wouldn't can be done any time, any place. It doesn't just have to be on a landfill in Rio de Janeiro. Meeting, communicating, and interecting with people you normally wouldn't can open your eyes, and maybe even change your life and the lifes of others, like the crew of wasteland and the "pickers".

30 day challenge
Well, things have been going really well actually. ive been keeping up with my 30 day shred workout tape, and on monday, wednesdays, and fridays i do extra things at the rec center. today, i ran 2 miles, and went on the eliptical for a half hour. i also did some ab workouts. since i start this 30 day experiment of working out and eating healthier, i have actually lost about 7 pounds, so not bad for 22 days i guess. i havenoticed myself having more energy throughout the day, but once midnight hits, i am so ready for bed. eating health has still been pretty hard on campus. i eat a lot of salads and sandwichs which i get sick of fast. i love jamba juice though! all in all, this have been going well, and i hope things will keep going well as time progresses.

Day 8
When asked to thinkg of something for the 30 day challenge, many things popped into my head that would be easy to write a research paper on. Well, I decided that I wanted to take the opportunity to do something for myslef, instead of just focusing on ideas that will be easy to research. So I decided that I needed to live a healthly lifestyle for 30 days, and hopefully this will carry on and I can stick with it. I know that a few people in our class had the same idea as me too. Well, a couple months ago I had a scare with diabetes; it runs in my family, so I was a pretty nervous. Thankfully, I ended up not having it!! Well, that really opened my eyes. I need to significantly decrease my risk of getting it, and theres really no other way to do so other than living a healthy life style. My 30 day challenge is to workout for atleast 30 mins a day and eat healthier.
I have no motivation to workout ever, so even though you might not think so, this is "outside the box" for me. I can usually motivate myself to workout once a week, if that. I brought a workout tape here called the 30 day shred by jillian michaels, one of the old Biggest Loser trainers; I could't have found a better workout tape because its for 30 days and each workout is 30 mins. So, I figured I would do the tape and then any other additional workout I wanted to do that day would be a bonus. Well, I had a rocky start because I ended up getting a sinus infection on february 2, just my luck. This made it tough to workout when I couldn't even breathe. But through perseverance, I talked myself into doing, even when I was sick. My sinus infection let up on sunday, so monday I felt refreshed. I did my tape and I also ran 2 and 1/2 miles. I hadn't run in a couple months so it was challenging, but I love running so I pushed through it. Today, I did my tape, ran a mile and a half, walked a mile, and did some ab workouts. I am pretty proud of myself that even through sickness, I stuck to my plan and stayed motivated; this doesnt happen very oftern, I am a very lazy person.
Surprisingly, eating healthier is harder to do than working out everyday. Not because i'm not motivated to, but I live on campus and my healthy choices are pretty limited. I have found great comfort in Jamba Juice and their all fruit smoothies. I have learned to enjoy a good Woodworth salad. I have also found many microwavable Healthy Choice meals, which are actually pretty good. It's a struggle, but i'm trying my hardest to eat healthy, even though the temptations here are endless.

(De)Construction
Well, seeing as i am a college student, i did not bring many things to school that i am willing to break, and i live far so i cannot just drive home to get something. so i pondered the idea for a while and came up with a highlighter. this highlighter is not just any highlighter though; it is the highlighter that got me through my first semester as a college nursing student. it was especially useful for my anatomy, chemistry, and psychology classes (pre-recs for nursing) and the highlighter was used throuhgout all three books from cover to cover. needless to say, these are pretty tough classes and with the help of my highlighter, i passed all three with "flying colors". this highlighter signifies my start.
After i destroyed the highlighter, i had a million(exaggeration) little pieces of broken plastic and a highlighter stick. this was mind boggling. i had absolutely no idea what to do with the pieces. after some thinking, i came up with an idea. i took the highlighter stick to a piece of paper to see if the color would still come out, and thankfully it did. so, i took the highlighter stick and covered the bottom of my shoe with it, while outside. then, i made a footprint on the sidewalk right by ball memorial. this signifies my journey. i am becoming a nurse because my goal in life is to help people; its what i've wanted to do since i was 10. well that footprint shows that step by step i am one step closer to achieving my goal, and that really means a lot to me.

Art of Listening
The message of the article seems to be to listen. if we all listen to people "tell their story", as said in the article, then writing, literature, storytelling, and communication will not be lost. the author also encourages to "tell your story". if people want to listen, they'll listen. it's a good way to be remembered and be heard.
In chapter one and Kenneth Burke's Parlor conversation, there seemed to be a theme of asking a question, researching, and analyzing a situation. This article is in agreeance with this overall theme. If we "listen" to other people when it comes to our experiement, our research will influence how we feel about our topic. we should research and listen to any agreeing and opposing sides in order to have all the facts.

Library Session
The library session actually taught me a lot. I wouldn't have known where to even find the databases because I didn't take Eng 103. The databases were interesting. It was nice to learn to search keywords instead of phrases; this will save me a lot of time! I especially like the CQ Researcher. It has helped me find some pretty nice article that I can use for my research. These databases will really help me with my researcher, because it will save me the time of going to the library and looking through tons of books. Needless to say, I am thankful for the library session.

What's Important to Me...
"I love life, because what more is there" -Anthony Hopkins
"What's important to me" is a hard statement to answer because so many things are important to me and help shape my life everyday.
Over the years, I have come to learn that family is number one. I have a very big extended family, and as any family, we've had some hard times, troubles, but also happy times. One thing I've noticed is that family sticks together and no matter what they will be right by your side. My parents are divorced, so I've always had the problem of "conflicting interests" between the two sides. But, either way, whether they get along or not, my family is always my number one fan.
My mom is by far my biggest supporter. She has taught me so much and without her support, I wouldn't be where I am today. I've seen her seen her through some hard times and struggle, and she always has a smile on her face, a twinkle in her eye, and the drive to change any outcome that would hurt the family. She is an amazing person, who has been through a lot to get to where she is today. She is always there for me and supports me in what ever I do. I hope and strive to be a lot like her and take life head on the way that she has.
With the support of my family and my values and goals, my future career path is to be a nurse. Sixth grade is when I decided this. I want to help people and make a difference in someone's life. My senior year of high school I went to school half-day and interned at a hospital in the labor and delivery unit the other half of the day. I was able to have such an interesting and enjoyable experience, which just made me even more sure that nursing is what I wanted to persue.
My career path has so much to do with my family. Because of the values, goals, and support they've instilled in me, I have become the person I am today; someone who is caring, kind, and strives to help others.
